Ruth Ann Gilbert from Ashtabula, Ohio
Ruth Ann Gilbert is a Gold Star sister, a wife, a mother and a nurse. She lost her brother in Afghanistan and has devoted herself to serving veterans in his honor. She is a wound and ostomy nurse at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs (VA) clinic caring for those who have served our country. Service is a core value in her family. Her husband, Jordan, is a critical care pharmacist, and together they serve on the Ashtabula County Water Rescue Team, always ready to respond when their community needs them. Their 20-year-old daughter is about to graduate from cosmetology school and begin her own career. Ruth Ann is currently furthering her education to become a family nurse practitioner with the goal of continuing her work at the VA. She is deeply grateful for the Major Lucas Gruenther Legacy Foundation Scholarship which will help her achieve this next step in her career and deepen her impact on veterans and their families. Ruth Ann’s goal is to use her skills, experience, and personal connection to military service to serve veterans and their families as fully and compassionately as she can.
