Kayla Martin from Tuscaloosa, Alabama

My name is Kayla and I am a survivor to LTC Thomas Hawes of the US Army. Pursuing my education is how I have chosen to honor my Dad’s life, service, and career. I plan to not only honor my Dad, but Major Lucas Gruenther as well as I embark on my journey towards becoming a Special Education teacher, hopefully in the DODEA school system, so I can work with our service members’ special needs children. Growing up a military child, I have always been drawn towards our nation’s military as they have helped shape the person I am today. This will be my way of thanking them.
