Brittany Kuhn from Bensalem, Pennsylvania

My name is Brittany Kuhn and I am from Bensalem, Pennsylvania. I’m currently a full-time student at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work (with hopes to achieve my masters soon after). With my degree, my goal is to work with Gold Star families and veterans one day. When I lost my husband, Spc. Devin Kuhn on January 31st in 2018, my world was turned upside down. Devin and I met at Archbishop Ryan where we went to high school together and dated until he decided to join the Army in 2015 when he was 21 years old, and was eventually a part of the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state. We then went on to endure a long-distance relationship for two years until we both decided we wanted to get married on December 30th of 2017. After just one month of marriage with my high school sweetheart and my best friend, Devin was killed in a tragic weapons training accident at Camp Rilea in Oregon.

I had questioned everything in my life including my own purpose in the world. After some time, I soon realized that I was meant to do something else. That something else is to help others like me, because of my deep understanding and empathy for families who have made the ultimate sacrifice just like their loved one has. The love Devin and I shared shines through my effort and determination within my education in order to aid the military community. Thank you so much for this honorable scholarship, Devin and Luc are never forgotten. #LiveLikeLuc
